Board Members
Board members are voting members of the advisory board. They are expected to attend board meetings every two weeks and meetings with external groups as their role demands.
Role Responsibilities
General financial oversight
Oversee and present budgets, accounts and financial statements to advisory board
Liaise with designated stakeholders about financial matters
Ensure that appropriate financial systems and controls are in place
Ensure that record-keeping and accounts meet the conditions of statutory bodies including but not limited to the fiscal sponsor
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation
Funding, fundraising and sales
Advise on the organization's fundraising strategy
Develop and uphold sponsorship guidelines and relationships
Ensure use of funds complies with conditions set by funding bodies
Ensure fundraising and sales complies with relevant legislation and is bound by effective financial systems and controls
Ensure effective monitoring and reporting
Financial planning and budgeting
Prepare and present budgets for new or ongoing work
Advise on financial implications of strategic and operational plans
Present revised financial forecasts based on actual spend
Financial reporting
Present regular reports on the organization's financial position
Prepare accounts for audit and liaising with fiscal sponsor
Present accounts to the advisory board
Advise on the organization's reserves and spending policies
Banking, book-keeping and record-keeping
Manage bank account held by the fiscal sponsor
Set up appropriate systems for book-keeping, payments, lodgements & petty cash
Ensure everyone handling money keeps proper records and documentation
Insurance Compliance
Ensure compliance with terms of insurance contracts
Advise on levels of insurance and providers
Maintain insurance to the compliance of legislative and fiscal sponsor’s relationships
